On 17 November 2011, brother Amir (formerly known as the rap artist ‘Loon’) was on his way to deliver a lecture in Belgium when he was arrested by Interpol at the behest of American authorities. After many months of uncertainty in a Belgian prison, he was finally extradited to the United States where he has remained in pre-trial detention ever since.
Currently facing drug related charges for events that allegedly transpired before his conversion to Islam, his family is requesting that you, in your quest to gain reward and in your love of aiding a brother in hardship, write a letter on his behalf.
What a letter, or rather 50,000 letters, might do, B’ithnIllah, is convince a judge of what the world already knows: that Chauncey Hawkins is a changed man since December 2008 when he took the life altering decision to embrace Islam and become belovedly known as brother Amir Junaid Muhaddith.
Please take a moment of your time to write down what you know of his reformed character and inspirational talks:
- Please address your letter to: The Honorable Judge James C. Fox
- Briefly introduce yourself (i.e. My name is…., I am from….)
- How you came to know of Mr. Hawkins (brother Amir)
- What you know of his character and civic work after 2008

- Conclude by requesting that the Judge kindly take into consideration Mr. Hawkins’ (brother Amir’s) peaceable and positive contributions to communities across the globe.
- Please refrain from unnecessarily criticizing the blatantly prejudicial application of law
- Please mail your letter to brother Amir’s lawyer at:
James Quander Winston Tower Suite 2020 301 North Main Street Winston-Salem, NC 27101 USA
